Davies-Bayern will pay Vancouver Whitecaps €1M if he wins the UCL final

Per transfermarkt, Bayern Munich could wind up having to pay the Vancouver Whitecaps some bonuses; agreed upon in Alphonso Davies’s contract if Bayern make it to the Champions League final and wins. However, this clause will only become valid if the Davies features in the starting eleven in an eventual final. There are a handful of bonus agreements in his contract; but if Bayern win the Champions League, they would have to pay the Whitecaps a fee of €1 million.

Bayern purchased Davies from the MLS outfit for a total of €10 million with €6 million in bonuses; but this particular bonus would be the first one activated if it were to occur this weekend. Of course, Bayern still has to get past Olympique Lyon in the semi-finals; a side that have proven they are no flop; having beaten both Juventus and Manchester City en route to this stage of the competition.

Regardless if Bayern winds up having to pay the Champions League bonus to the Whitecaps; Davies has arguably already gone down as one of the best bits of business from Bayern’s perspective. Per transfermarkt’s numbers; the Canadian international’s current market value is an estimated €60 million and he’s quickly become one of the most promising young talents in world football.

Not for nothing, either; but his market value is joint-highest alongside Chelsea FC’s Christian Pulisic for players from the CONCACAF region. The pair are followed by Wolverhampton Wanderer’s Raul Jimenez (Mexico; €44 million), Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey (Jamaica; €32.5 million, and SSC Napoli’s Hirving Lozano (Mexico; €30.80 million).
